I plan on going to the show. Need to get away from the rat race and just need to be with some like minded tobacco brothers to refuel the tank if you know what I mean.

Going to the NATO show – more of the top retailers will be there.

I’m only going to the NATO show as well. I find it to be much more high level tobacco folks at NATO, whereas TPE is all ecigs and glass.

Isn’t the show really just the Kretek show anymore? That really doesn’t make a lot of sense why people would support a show that is not as supportive of the industry as the NATO show?????? Not sure these shows are that beneficial anymore!

Enjoyed the show greatly in spite of the big tobacco companies not supporting the show and going to the NATO show. Interesting walkaway was that I got the impression that the TPE folks view the FDA as evil and out to get the tobacco industry and won’t stop till tobacco is gone! I heard from others that the NATO folks want to talk with the FDA and guide the FDA. Interesting? Guiding the FDA should be very interesting. I think I’d rather fight the fight as the good speaker said at the reception! “Make it personal!”
By the way the food was excellent at the reception! Love that dancing cigar!

Charley,

Of course the they view the FDA that way. The show’s owner is Kretek, the same people who had their clove cigarettes banned by the FDA, and are holding their breath that the same thing doesn’t happen to their clove “cigars” !

Two things I also learned – E-Cigarette companies have no clue and the other is what are these folks thinking with all the RYO/MYO cigarette machines? I mean didn’t the TTB already rule they are illegal?

The TTB ruled them to be manufacturers who have to pay the federal excise tax, MSA payments, etc. The filling station people got a temporary injunction in an Ohio court. The states are moving rapidly to shut them down which is a good thing as some states are also trying to tax the hell out of all loose tobacco to shut them down.

Need to get moving on this a lot faster!

They won’t move fast enough. Taxes on loose tobacco are about to go through the roof state by state as the result of the “filling stations’ ” cynical and misguided effort to skirt federal, state and local taxation and restrictions. And, the big cigarette manufacturers will be pleased and passively supportive- it protects and entrenches their market share.
