First a price increase in June. Then another in September? Volume declines while others are growing? And what’s this I hear about a mandatory 3% shipping charge? Is this a first? Is money that tight? I hear folks are not happy with all this? What’s next? Is there something we need to know? Any one know what’s going on at Altadis? Or is it an effect caused by consolidation of the industry? Give me the scoop! I wanna know what’s up!

It looks like new management must be trying to pay of some debt!. I recall the struggle when being bought!
The problem I am hearing about is people like me do not have a way to accomdate the surcharge in our computer. We can’t just add it in to the cost because it’s illegal to charge OTP tax on it. Big headache! If they are that desperate for money, just add it into the price and save the 10 paragraph letter trying to explain it!!!!!
I bet you that the folks at Altadis miss Mr Sandman….Maybe this has to do with his departure??
You bet they miss Mr Sandman he wouldn’t do things like this. He’s a class act! He’s doing a great job over at Rebublic from what I hear!
Did anyone talk to Sandman at NACS? I wet over there to talk to him but he was in a meeting and I never made it back around. The show floor was too big!
I saw Sandman and talked with him several times. We really miss him at Altadis. He is an industry shaker. Always knows what is going on and has a great way with people!

Hey people need to get over the changes in the industry as the manufacturers are fighting all the same issues that all other business’s are going through everyday. I’m sure the manufacturers will look at many ways to make profit! The same cost increases that are affecting retailers are presenting issues for the manufacturers!
Folks need to understand that some of what takes place in the industry today is all reflective of the issues of consolidation. New business models and new folks entering the mix. Some of the changes will be good and others will be what are they doing?
